Safety Development

Based on our many years of experience in developing safety-relevant products in various domains, we also find the appropriate, best, and most efficient safety solutions for you.

For you and together with you, Bosch Engineering develops customized safety concepts for your special applications and implements these in software and hardware in accordance with safety standards. To safeguard your solutions, we also offer the execution of safety analyses using qualitative and quantitative methods
(e.g. FTA, FMEDA), as well as support for integration, testing, and validation.

Development of Safety Concepts

A decisive factor for the efficient and effective implementation of functional safety is the selection of a suitable safety concept.

Individual safety architectures, for example, the Bosch three-level concept, have proven to be efficient solutions in the past. Thanks to our varied experience with regard to the implementation of functional safety in the most varied of technical domains, we can quickly determine the appropriate safety architecture for you and develop a lean safety concept tailored to your product, using findings from previous developments.

Implementation of Safety Concepts in Hardware and Software

The implementation of safety hardware and software in accordance with the requirements from the standards requires special training and a special safety culture.

Our experience in the implementation of safety-related hardware and software dates back to 2003. For Bosch components, we offer full implementation in hardware and software; for your components, we offer implementation support in accordance with the relevant safety standard.

Integration, Test, and Validation

For systems with high safety demands in particular, the requirements of the integration and test process are increasing fast. If the normative test process is not tailored to the project, the expense for developing these systems can increase enormously.

We compare your test process with the normative requirements, make suggestions regarding which test methods of the corresponding standard should be selected, and support you in test execution and validation of functional safety in the final product.

Safety Analyses

To enable statements about the completeness and robustness of a safety concept, many standards require qualitative and quantitative safety analyses (e.g. FMEA, FTA, FMEDA).

For the safety concepts that we develop, if you wish, we provide you with the necessary evidence of the fulfillment of quantitative specifications (Single-Point-Fault Metric (SPFM) and Latent Fault Metric (LFM), as well as the global error rate (PMHF)). For your own developments, we offer moderation and execution of the corresponding safety analyses to determine these values.
